‘GEMOLOGY’

Inspired by different gemstones´ history, meaning and aesthetics, we have made different jewelry and sound designs. For this exhibition we chose to work with three Australien gemstones; an opal, a garnet and a parti sapphire. Each stone is supported by a mood board that we both used during the creation-process.

Information and a description was also provided for the viewers.

OPAL

Opals contain the wonders of the skies – sparkling rainbows, fireworks and lightning. Like the sky the opal colours shift and flash with movement, the combination of colours and patterns means every opal is unique.
Opals are a mix of silica and water. It is believed, that it can act as an emotional stabilizer and awaken your creative abilities, help you dream and help you provide the necessary understanding to reach deeper into your soul.

GARNET

Garnets have been popular gemstones for thousands of years.
It is believed, that they symbolize eternal friendship, love, light and vitality. The word “garnet” comes from the latin word “granatus”, meaning “seed” or “grain”. This could be a reference to the pomegranate fruit. On the spiritual level, the garnet is also associated with beeing grounded, creative and successful.
